Three Days Manjushri and Long Life White Tara Puja upcoming...
Date : 19th to 21st Jan. 2012 (Thursday, Friday and Saturday)
Venue: Namo Buddha Buddhist Society, Sibu
Dear Dharma Brothers & Sisters,
The Resident Master Lama Ngawang and Monk Samten Gyalpo will perform the three days of Manjushri Buddha and Long Life White Tara Puja. You are cordially invited to attend the Puja with families and friends either for the whole three days or just part of it at your convenience.
Manjushri buddha is known for being one of the eight great male bodhisattavas who although has attained the buddhahood, vowed to remain in samsara in the form of bodhisattvas till each and every sentient being has attained buddhahood. He is the embodiment of Buddha’s wisdom. Therefore, Manjushri's name is superior in power to the names of three hundred thousand other buddhas because, although, he is a buddha, due to his compassion for sentient beings, he remains in samsara. It is said that to say the name of Manjushi Buddha is more beneficial and meritorious than to say the names of as many buddhas as there are grains of sand in the river Ganges. If we heartily pray to Manjushri buddha, chant his prayer and recite his mantra, it will dispel the darkness of our ignorance since the beginning less time, increase our wisdom and reinforce our positive mind and virtuous behaviours.
White Tara is one of the 21 Taras. She is a female enlightened being whose function is to bestow long life, wisdom and good fortune. White Tara has been one of the main practice Deities of many Kagyu linage masters including our beloved V. V. Khenchen Thrangu
Rinpoche. At this very beginning of the year to practice White Tara, we not only wish our beloved teacher will have long life, live healthy free from suffering of illness and disease for many years to come, but also wish all sentient beings can be protected from contagious diseases, suffering of illness, the dangers of fire, and other natural disasters.
Light Offerings during this special Manjushri buddha and long life White Tara puja time has more significant meanings than other occasions. The illumination of light reinforces our aspiration to free oneself from a state of confusion and ignorance; to strengthen our commitment to generate the Bodhichitta and compassion for all sentient beings and eventually being able to reach enlightenment state and establish all sentient being in the state of Buddhahood.
